Gary Paul Nabhan

On Friday September 19th at 7:00pm Rabelais and Slow Food Portland will present Gary Paul Nabhan at SPACE, 538 Congress Street, Portland.

Nabhan is the author of Renewing America's Food Traditions, Saving and Savoring the Continent's Most Endangered Foods, as well as Coming Home to Eat, Arab/American and the forthcoming Where our Food Comes From, Tracing Nikolay Vavilov's Quest to End Famine. He is a lecturer, food and farming advocate, conservationist and professor at the University of Arizona.

One of the founders of the Renewing America's Food Traditions (RAFT) collaborative, Nabhan is also a recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship (the "Genius" Award). Nabhan's book Renewing America's Food Traditions offers the first ever list of foods at risk in America and shows us how we can personally support and and participate in recovering them. He will be in Maine to speak at Common Ground fair but will make a stop in Portland to speak about current food issues and take part in a Q&A.
