Attractively printed in black and red duo-tone, the menu offers lists of Liqueurs, Cocktails (twenty-three choices), Aperitifs, Mixed Drinks, Beer, Cigars, Tobaccos, Cigarettes, and Playing Cards. Some light soiling to external panels, otherwise very good.....

Martinsburg, W. Va. [the hotel; Statesman Print], 1878. Bi-fold menu, folded on top edge (20.5 x 12 cm.), [4] pages. Printed in blue. A four-page program with menu for a banquet honoring Col. Nadenbousch at the Grand Central Hotel in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Colonel John Quincy Adams Nadenbousch owned the Hotel in which he was being feted, as well as a lumber yard, and the Martinsburg branch of the Hannis.....

Venezia [Venice, Italy]: La Colomba, [1962]. Single-folded menu, (13 x 13 inches), with screen printed typo-pictorial design in green, bland, and orange. Verso printed in the same colors with food offerings and prices. A menu designed by the Belgian surrealist E.L.T. Mesens, probably created for the design contest of famed Venice art bistro La Colomba. Signed "Mesens 62" in the lower left-hand corner, and further inscribed in 1964 by Mesens.....

Chicago, Ill. the hotel, 1878-1904. Thirty-two menus and one related item (various sizes), with various pagination. A collection of early menus from Chicago's historic Palmer House, which until the recent Covid pandemic, was the oldest continuously operating hotel in America. It was the first hotel in the city with elevators, and the first with electric lights and telephones in the rooms. The original hotel opened in September 1870, but burnt.....

Boston, Mass. Propeller Press, 142 Washington St. 1850. Bi-fold menu (21 x 13.5 cm.), [4] pages. Illustrated. The Boston Young Men's Total Abstinence Society was formed in 1846. This "Seventh Anniversary" banquet offered an alcohol free menu with Baked Trout in Anchovy Sauce, Mutton Cutlet in Gardner's Sauce, Eels with Tartar Sauce, Mongrel Ducks, seven types of pie or cake, AND then dessert. The elaborate title page created by Tiffany Studios of New York, consists of an oval photo-portrait of Murphy pasted onto the stiff paper. Benrath [Dusseldorf, Germany]: 1955. Single fold menu, (16.5 x 10 cm.), edged in gold. With the crest of North Rhine-Westphalia. Menu for a diplomatic dinner given by Karl Arnold, the Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia, for the Shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavi. The dinner was given at the Pleasure Palace of Benrath, in Dusseldorf. It has been proposed as a Unesco World Heritage Site. Dishes served at the dinner included.....

[Vienna, Austria]: 1916. Broadsheet menu, (16.5 x 12 cm.), pasted onto a card backing. The menu bears the blind-stamped armorial crest of Austria-Hungary. At the time of this dinner, the arch-conservative Prime Minister Carl Graf Sturgkh, was ruling alone, having dissolved both the provincial assembly, and the Austrian Rechstrat.
