Maine Farmland Trust Book Party

Maine Farmland Trust Book Party

Saturday, Nov 27, 2010 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Please join us for an afternoon celebration of the first book published by the Maine Farmland Trust, 'From The Land, Maine Farms at Work.' The book chronicles seven working Maine farms with insightful essays by John Piotti, Executive Director of the Maine Farmland Trust and Maine State Representative from District 45, and documentary photography by Bridget Besaw. On November 20th, John Piotti will speak about the project, and about the land trust. Photographs from the book will be on display and there will be refreshments sourced from, and inspired by, the wealth of produce grown on Maine's farms. This event will take place at The Quimby Colony at the Roma, 769 Congress Street in Portland.

'From The Land' is full of beautiful color photographs by Bridget Besaw, an award-winning environmental photographer whose work has appeared in The New York Times, Time, Newsweek, Business Week and The Smithsonian among others. Bridget is in Chile for the Winter and so will not be able to join us for this event, but her work will be on display.

Various local farmers, some from the book and some from local area farms, will be in attendance.

The book, which costs $20, will be available for sale at the event.
