Duodecimo (16.5 x 10.5 cm.), iv, 176, 17-21 pages. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece, "Art of Trussing"; additional engravings in the advertisements at end. The publication date, "November, 1955", is from the Preface. Stated "Thirteenth Edition, Improved". The "whole written entirely from practice, and combining gentility with economy by a Lady." Text block foxed at edges throughout, and edge stain to first few leaves, including the frontispiece. In blind-decorated and gilt-titled brown cloth; the cloth is soiled and rubbed, but sound. A good copy. Early ink ownership signature, "Mary Mansfield", to free front endpaper. Very scarce in all editions. [OCLC locates no copy of a Thirteenth Edition dated November 1955, and only one copy of a Twelfth Edition with that date (Cambridge); most editions found in just one or two copies; not in Cagle].
