Octavo (17.5 x 14 cm.), 169, [2] pages. FIRST EDITION. A book of practical recipes for confectioners, geared towards trade and not public use. By the author of Frye's Practical Candy Maker, a slimmer volume issued by the author in Chicago in 1884. The seventy-odd extra pages consist, however, largely of lined blanks titled "Remarks". An early owner has added a single, handwritten recipe, "Fudge" and added the entry to the Table of Contents. The recipes themselves are in narrative form and fairly detailed. Text block age-toned, otherwise internally clean and sound. In publisher's royal blue cloth, gilt-titled at the spine, and titled and decorated in black on the front board. Near fine. Very scarce.
