Small octavo (15.5 x 10.5 cm.), 37, [2] pages. Publisher's advertisement and blanks for additional recipes at rear. Stated "seventh edition". Includes remarks on soups and fifty recipes for soups, arranged alphabetically from artichoke to vermicelli soup. One in the series of single-subject "Cookery Books" published by Frederick Stokes. Murrey was the caterer of New York's Astor House and Philadelphia's Continental Hotel. In publisher's paper-covered boards, front and back covers with a color illustration of a young girl tasting soup at the hearth. Some spotting to top edge of pages; publisher's color decorated paper paste-downs rubbed and soiled. Good only. [OCLC locates nineteen copies; Bitting, page 337; not in Cagle].
