The "American Ryori" was dropped from the title with this edition. An "Americans abroad" in an occupation cookbook, which entails efforts to teach the local help, "Cook-san" how to prepare the food expected by the woman of the house, "Madame". The introduction, penned by "Papa-san" outlines some of the challenges and satisfactions of working with the house help towards a better understanding. Sections include: cooking guides, meal planning, food supplies needed in kitchens, recipes and helps, words used in American cooking, and menus for spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The Nippon Times (and Japan Times, etc.), Japan's oldest and largest English language newspaper, was headquartered in Tokyo. Text block age-toned, but not brittle; some leaves dog eared. In publisher's color illustrated wrappers, with a design signed in the print, "Fumio Tutida". Some wear to wrapper edges, but generally very good.
