Nineteen manuscript cargo manifests, from the Port of Philadelphia. Various sizes, (33 x 20 cm. and smaller). An interesting collection of handwritten inspection reports, mostly from the Port of Philadelphia, but at least one from the Port of New York. Most identify the ship, master, the port of origin, dates, cargo type, weights or sizes of cargo, and the recipient, as well as marks on the cargo. From Havana there is white sugar, brown sugar, segars (cigars), logwood, and oranges; from Martinique there is cocoa, molasses, coffee, cotton, oranges, and sugar. Other ports of origin included Belfast, St. Bartholomew, Surinam, Lisbon, Hull, Jamaica, New Providence, Liverpool, and Naples. The ships include the Brig Little George, Brig Hannah, Schooner Garner, Ship Young Eagle, Schooner Mercury, Brig Neptune and others. Additional categories of cargo include rum, tobacco, indigo, hides, sweat meats, chocolate, linens, mahogany, sherry wine, gingham, nuts, nails, tar, tamarinds, leather, vanilla beans, licures (liquors), cork, coal, bark, ticking, salt, thread, Madeira, Claret, cordials, shad, herring, salmon, anchovies, salt peter, saddles, combs, plaster of Paris, and more. With the sign-offs of the inspectors. Condition varies with some light staining and edgewear. Some have early tape repairs to creases or corners. All are sound and legible and often quite handsome.
