An early almanac with a cookery focus. Astrological information for each month faces a page of recipes in narrative form, headed by an attractive wood engraving. While not indicated here, the astrological calculations in later almanacs published by Bannan were provided by "Lawrence J. Ibach, Sheridan, P.O., Lebanon Co., Pa." Some small ink marginalia (mostly mathematical calculations), and an ownership inscription to front wrapper panel. Spine reinforced at an early dat with yellow paper. Some wear to corners, otherwise very good. Scarce. [OCLC locates no copies of this Pottsville issue until 1872 and then with the title "Housekeeper's Almanac"; O'Neal's Early American Almanacs records a similar title with the Philadelphia imprint of Simon].
