The first book of the great James Beard, "America's first foodie", as he is described by Mitchell Davis, founder of Kitchen Sense, and formerly of the James Beard Foundation. Hundreds of recipes for home entertaining. "In orderly array, the book clearly classifies and describes the cocktail hors d'oeuvre, the canapé, the sandwich, the hot hors d'oeuvre, and the savory" (from the jacket copy). Internally clean and bright, though endpapers a bit foxed or offset from jacket panels. Small sticker residue and tiny ownership stamp, "Bill Lamontagne", to free front endpaper; in publisher's green cloth. Unclipped dust jacket with edgewear and two small chips to top edge. Near very good.
