Grossinger and her husband Paul emigrated to the U.S. from Austria, and soon opened a small boarding house in the Catskill Mountains of New York State in 1914. The recipes are drawn from around Eastern Europe and the Netherlands. The audience for the book is clearly a broader American audience becoming familiar with Jewish cooking and culture (in part through institutions like the Grossinger's resort), and simple explanations of Jewish Holidays, and uses of various types of fat to keep Kosher or not, are included. one small spot to text block fore edge; near fine in publisher's illustrated white cloth.
