A very complete handbook or manual of cage-bird maintenance, with sections on Thrushes, Finches, Grossbeaks, Warblers, Larks, South American, Asiatic, and African Birds, Doves, Parrots, and with instructions for breeding canaries, and the treating the diseases for which they are liable. An author/publisher’s advertisement at the rear describes James Mann as, “Taxidermist, Dealer in American and Foreign Singing Birds, Fancy Pigeons, Rare Fowls, &c.”. Light soiling to some leaves; a few pencil annotations to front endpapers. Blind-stamped, decorated brown cloth; professionally rebacked with original spine panel laid-down; gilt-titled at spine.
