Albuquerque: University of New Mexico Press, 1968.
Octavo (21 x 16 cm.), x, 124 pages. Index. FIRST EDITION. The author's first cookbook. While this small work is far from the first American cookbook to treat Mexican, or Mexican-American cooking, it is one of the first truly sympathetic and respectful accounts of the cuisine. The author is also well-known for his poetry, and the complete body of his cookbooks is seen as the work of one of America's most literary cookbook authors. Previous owner’s bookplate to front paste-down, otherwise fine in publisher’s yellow cloth. Bright yellow dust jacket has some light soiling and short closed edge tears. Still, very good.
