New York: Brentano's; [Press of Strauss & Klee, 1891].
Duodecimo (15.5 x 12 cm.), 46 pages. FIRST TRADE EDITION, previously issued privately by the author in a number of printings, starting in 1884. A lovely little confectionery book, with recipes for traditional, old-fashioned sweets, as well as "the varieties of bon-bons to be found at the leading confectioners in New York, Paris and London." Toning to endpapers, small ink date stamp, "Nov 17, 1938" to preliminary blank. Cloth boards – decorated in black, gilt, and silver – are soiled, otherwise near very good. [OCLC locates ten copies of this printing, and smaller quantities of the earlier self-published issues; the trade edition not in Bitting; no edition in Cagle].
