He founded the American Monthly Magazine in 1833. Herbert employed the pseudonym Frank Forester on his many highly regarded works on sport. Foxing to preliminary and final blank leaves; some rubbing and edge wear to publisher's blind- and gilt-stamped blue cloth. Near very good. Ink ownership signature on front fly, "Chapin".
