The World's Modern Cook Book for the Busy Woman.

Cleveland, Ohio; New York: World Syndicate Publishing Co.; Greenberg,Publishers, Inc., 1932.

Thick octavo (20.5 x 14 cm.), 416 pages. Index. Illustrated. ~ FIRST EDITION under this title, and simultaneous with the other variant titles. A contract cookbook, licensed here to the World Publishing Syndicate (later World Publishing). The original title, issued the same year by Greenberg, was the Modern Cook Book for Busy Women. Other licensed versions appeared simultaneously as Bamberger's Cook Book..., Kilpatrick's Cook Book... and the Emporium's Cook Book... demonstrating an interest amongst the department stores. This interest may be explained by the emphasis of the black and white photographic illustrations on the tools of the kitchen, cooking, and serving. Stoves, refrigerators, mixers, refuse bins, laundry equipment, ventilation fans, and every variety of kitchen gadget are depicted. Offsetting from a newspaper clipping laid-in affects two leaves, otherwise fine in publisher's blue-decorated and titled red cloth. Dust jacket, printed in red and blue, is faded at the spine (the red, as usual); some light edgewear and rubbing to dust jacket, otherwise very good. [OCLC locates twenty-one copies (and fewer of each of the other licensed versions)].

Price: $40.00
