Sweetmeats: a Franklin Sugar book of recipes for making candies and bon bons, conserves, cake icings and meringues, by Caroline B. King.

Philadelphia: Frankling Sugar Refining Co.; Edward Stern & Co. Inc. 1923.

Stapled booklet (18.5 x 13.5 cm.), 64 pages. Illustrated in color lithography throughout. Index. FIRST EDITION. Handsomely illustrated product cookbook, with recipes for a variety of candies, including patties, bon bons, taffy, bars, brittles, pulls, etc., as well as sauces, jams, jellies, cookies, cakes, icing, meringues, and more. The two-page, four panel illustration at the center of the booklet depicts the journey of the sugar from the field to arrival at the refinery, to spin-down separation in the centrifuges, and finally to the massive machinery used for packaging the final product. Some light soiling to pictorial wrapper and to a few pages; some oxidation to staples. Still very good. Scarce. [OCLC locates three copies].
