Child Life Cook Book.

Chicago, New York: Rand McNally & Company; Rand McNally Press, 1926.

Quarto (26 x cm.), 40 pages. Illustrated throughout. Index. Blank page for "Memoranda". First edition. A children's cookbook, with recipes for basic (but not always simple) dishes. Some are fun dishes, like Peanut Butter Soup, Corn Gems, and Raisin Sandwiches, but most are staples of the early 20th century American kitchen. The recipes are accompanied by short narrative texts for each section, including Apples, Soups for Dinners, Meats, Potatoes, etc. All are accompanied by the charming silhouette illustrations by the author. Some light notes to the text throughout by a previous owner; the Memorandum page and one other blank are completely covered with handwritten recipes, including Grandma's Frosting, Molasses Cake, Mrs. Lyne's Orange Marmalade and more. Some light spotting throughout; Decorated tan oil cloth boards are lightly stained as well. Good. [OCLC locates fifteen copies].
