The New Family Receipt Book containing eight hundred truly valuable receipts in various branches of domestic economy ... A new edition, corrected.

New Haven: Published by Howe & Spalding, and Samuel Wadsworth; A.H. Maltby & Co., Printers, 1819.

Duodecimo, xxi, [37]-429, [6] pages. Index. Publisher's advertisements. Second American edition. Originally published London, 1810, and in Philadelphia, 1818 (see Cagle 567). Also see Cagle 566 for a lengthy description of the possible attribution of this work to Mrs. Rundell. We side with Cagle on this and find the attribution unlikely. A stated compilation, freely admitting the recipes are in large part gathered from other books. Culinary, household, medicinal, veterinary, and commercial recipes are gathered into a single volume. Includes sections on Fire, Fireworks (listed under Pleasing Experiments), and Fire-arms. Text block age-toned; some staining; one leaf with a corner tear not affecting text. In original brown calf with red morocco spine title, hinges tissue-strengthened inside and out; corners bumped. Good. Scarce. [OCLC locates four copies of this New Haven imprint (BL, AAS, the Huntington, and NH Historical Society); Bitting 582; Cagle 567; Lowenstein 84].
