Chapel Hill: University of North Carolina Press, 1928.
Quarto, ix, 201 pages. Illustrated with 123 black & white plates. First edition. A major study of the gasteromycetes, a class of fungi including over 700 species commonly known as "puffballs". The authors were both botanists at the University of North Carolina, and William Coker left his magnificent collection of mushroom books to the Rare Book Collection at UNC where, together with the collection donated by Phil Hanes, it remains one of the most important mycology collections in the world. Tiny it of foxing to edges; some wear to the burgundy cloth. Otherwise very good or better. [Volbracht 391].
