Best Dairy and Farm Books.

Manchester, NH: [circa 1885].

Quarto-sized sewn scrapbook (29 x 18.5 cm.), 36 pages. A neatly assembled scrapbook of clippings mostly related to rural life and dairying in particular. Based on the typography of the clippings, they are sourced from just a few newspapers. Subjects include: "The Flavor of Eggs", "Fish Ponds", "Canned Food", "German Hot Beds", "Sheep as Renovators", and more. A fair number of articles are on apples and cider, including: "How to Gather Cider Apples", "Bottling Cider", "The Northern Spy as a 'Keeping' Apple", "Apples and Cider", and "The Market Apples of New England". The whole is neatly assembled, and a rather nice book object. General wear and soiling, otherwise very good.
