The preface indicates that it has been twenty-two years since the first publication, which would then be 1868, but there is no evidence of a copy earlier than 1885. A promotional cookbook for the chemist, whose business is supplying medical, household, and art supplies. Culinary recipes are attributed. Pages quite brittle, binding shaken. In burgundy cloth with printed cover title pasted-down. Boards edgeworn and creased. Good only. Scarce. [OCLC locates only five copies for all editions, the earliest being the stated sixth edition of 1885; not in Brown].
