Together with the author's English Cookery Books to the Year 1850, Bitting describes this as the "most detailed and exhaustive treating of English cookery books" (352). Though a text on collecting in general, approximately three-quarters of the book is dedicated to a bibliography of English cookery books dating 1508 to 1814. Quarter-cloth over gray boards worn and mildly soiled at edges. Paper spine label perished as usual. Deckled edge with slight discoloration. Good plus.
