New York: Harper & Brothers, Publishers, 1854.
Octavo, 369 pages, index. Woodcut illustrations throughout. Stated third edition (preface), originally published by Marsh, Capen, Lyon, and Webb of Boston in 1841. A household manual, not a recipe book, with sections on care of infants and the sick, healthful food, cleanliness, washing, house cleaning, kitchen maintenance, and more. By the great educator and domestic reformer Catherine Beecher. Some light foxing and soiling throughout. With an early bookplate of the Chelmsford Free Public Library, and an older adhesive spine label. Otherwise, very good in original publisher's gilt and blind stamped brown cloth. [Not in Cagle (although there are numerous printings of the Supplement); not in Lowenstein].
