Wegweisung der Technik. Mit Bildern, Nach Aufnahmen, von Albert Renger-Patzsch

Potsdam: Muller & Kiephenhauer Verlag, 1928.

Quarto, 74 pages. Photographically illustrated. FIRST EDITION. The first book by architect Rudolf Schwarz. Schwarz worked in the periphery of the Bauhaus and was a significant figure in the field in the twenties and early thirties. He had a great influence on his friend Mies Van der Rohe. The photographic illustrations are by Renger-Patzsch, and this remains the most elusive of the photographer's books. One plate shows some adhesion mark, but far from the image; otherwise internally fine. In striking, photographically illustrated, paper-covered boards, over black cloth spine. Some rubbing and light wear to boards, still very good. Very scarce. [OCLC locates twelve copies worldwide, with only two in the US, at MOMA and the National Gallery)].
