Cookery Craft, as practiced in 1894 by the women of the South Church, St Johnsbury, Vt.

St. Johnsbury, VT: Press of C.M. Stone, 1894.

Octavo, 17, 189, [blanks], 18, [1]. Ads. First edition of this church cookbook, with some of the recipes attributed. With a witty essay about the history of food titled, "Cookery Craft Miscellaneously Considered" at the rear. A number of manuscript recipes have been added on the pages provided, and an owner has very neatly tipped-in a number of additional manuscript recipes and clippings. The book is well used, but also shows signs of being well loved, more than most. Binding and hinges shaken, with wear and soiling to pages throughout. Title printed on paper covered boards over black pebbled cloth spine. Overall good or a bit better. [OCLC locates just three copies; Cook page 252; not in Brown or Cagle].
