Ithaca, (NY): Moosewood, 1974.
Comb-bound quarto. 79 pages. FIRST EDITION, second printing of this classic of counterculture cooking. The Moosewood Cookbook was later given a trade issue by Ten Speed Press in 1977 and went on to become one of the best selling cookbooks of all time. This original, self-published work was compiled by and credited to the collective, with Mollie Katzen – who would go on to be credited as the author – given credit here for "design, editing, handwriting, pen and ink illustrations". Moosewood has been honored as one of the thirteen most influential restaurants of the 20th century by Bon Appetit, and received a James Beard Foundation "American Classic" award. Some light staining and spotting to the decorated wrappers, and with two small ink annotations, otherwise very good in publisher's brown plastic comb binding. The original self-published issues are very scarce.
