Stated sixth edition. An expatriot cookbook, containing many more"local" recipes than is normally found. There is indeed a preponderance of comforting recipes from the U.K., including Chile Con Carne, Vegetarian Toad in the Hole, Green Tomato Pickle, and Aspics. But there are illustrations of "Some Malayan Vegetables". There are thirty-five pages of "Malay Recipes", an essay, "Notes on Indo-Malayan Cooking" by C.X. Furtado, and a section of more than fifty pages of "Indian Recipes". The instructional section up front is partly offered in both English and Malay, and there is an English/Malay glossary for the market. Small closed tear to final leaf; some very light soiling. In publisher's blue- and yellow-printed, paper covered boards, over a square, blue cloth spine. Light soiling to boards; otherwise very good. Early owner's ink signature, "Dorothea McDowell", to front board.
