A modern cookbook styled after late eighteenth century works, with recipes drawn from historical English sources, predominantly William Parks' 1742 printing of E. Smith's Compleat Housewife, the first cookbook printed in America. In full ruled calf with raised bands and spine label titled in gilt. Light scuffing to boards; a bit of spotting to text block edges; date in ink to the front paste-down. Otherwise very good or better.
