This January and February, we're busy moving Rabelais from the shop in Portland to a new larger office space in Biddeford, Maine, a dozen miles away. While we get set up in the new space, we're temporarily not selling online. Once we're all organized and the boxes unpacked, we'll be up online with even more great culinary books. Small quarto-sized album, with collection of sixty six original wine labels pasted down. A handsome, interesting, and high quality collection of labels from throughout Europe, mostly from the World War Two years. Some highlights include a lovely woodcut for a 1943 Toscano Valpolicella, A Boubee Freres Bourdeaux, and a nice run of Veltliners. Some pencil text to the pages adjacent to many labels, in German, indicating purchase and drinking notes. In near fine condition.
