Join us here at the shop on Wednesday, May 13th for the monthly Baxter Society Talk. I'll be speaking about The Apgar Collection of American Cookery, a great collection of 18th and 19th century printed American cookbooks. The collection is here in the shop, and will be on view. It's a rare ocassion to see nearly 700 American coookbooks from the beginning of the printed cookbook in America to the 1920s, and one can see the devvelopment of the physical forms of the books as well as social, cutlural and culinary aspects. And we'll spend a bit of time looking at highlights and milestones of American Cookery history.
