Octavo, 164 pages + 42 ads. First edition. A very scarce New York charity cookbook, with a wide selection of recipes, many attributed to their suppliers. The advertising section at the rear is partially illustrated and often typographically engaging. A few pencil marks to a recipe or two, very minor staining throughout text. Black varnished boards with some wear, and with some paper adhered to the varnish applied to the boards. Gilt title stamp to front boards. Still almost very good. Very scarce. [Bitting 500; Cook 174 references the Bitting copy; but Worldcat and OCLC indicate only one copy, at UofM/Clements].
