Octavo, 87 pages, ads throughout. First edition. An attractive community cookbook, from the aptly named Westchester County hamlet of Pleasantville. It's unclear the connection between Pleasantville's St John's Guild and Peg Woffington. Margaret "Peg" Woffington was a popular 18th century English actress, linked romantically to David Garrick. There is a tea house in Teddington, UK with a 250 year history which was established by Woffington, but otherwise the connection seems tenuous. A few small stains on the front board of black and red printed cloth binding, otherwise fine. Scarce. [OCLC shows copies at only the NYPL and Cornell].
